Someone recently asked me “who gambles online?”  I thought it was a bit obnoxious, but maybe that’s just because I do gamble online, so I guess I just took it personally but I genuinely think he was just curious.

I started asking my friends and family who own and use a computer if they too had even gotten into internet gambling.  I was surprised to learn that so many of my friends and family do gamble online!  It was never something that came up in conversation, until now!

After talking to some more people about internet gambling (something that I recently took up myself) I learned so much more about it!  I learned that most online casino companies offer special VIP clubs for loyal players where it’s not about how much you gamble (like in a regular casino) but more about how often you frequent the site.  I learned that you can play anywhere without downloading if the online casino you have an account with has the option to play in no-download Flash mode. (I have a cousin who plays poker from his computer console at work!)

My neighbor says she doesn’t have to make the long trip to the local casino (where she would always spend extra money on shopping and dining) and instead she gets to play the slots machines whenever she wants, right in the comforts of her own home.  For her, internet gambling has actually replaced regular on-land casino gambling.

So I guess the answer to my friend’s question would be “more people than you think!” as that’s certainly what I discovered.  Something else that I found out, which I didn’t know before was that a lot of women in my family play bingo online.  I didn’t even know you could play bingo on the internet and win real money!  I guess you learn something new everyday.  For me, internet gambling equals online casinos.  But who knows, maybe I’ll try out a Bingo site and meet my Aunt Shirley online!
